Chesslords Privacy Policy
1. Summary
Chesslords does not ask for your name, email address, password, phone number, contacts, photos or location. To run online play and keep your progress, the game uses a random account identifier, your game progress, the moves you play online, and the network address you connect from.
The game is free. On Android and iOS it shows ads, served by Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising identifier where the law and your choices allow. You can buy cosmetic items. The payment itself is handled by Google, Apple or Steam. If the game crashes, a crash report may be sent to help us fix it. The Steam version has no ads.
2. Who we are
Tirona Tech develops and publishes Chesslords and is the data controller for the information in this policy. Contact: [email protected].
3. What is collected and why
3.1 On your device
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Game settings | To run the game the way you left it |
| Progress (unlocks, results, statistics) | To show and keep your progress. If you use an account, a copy is kept on our server. |
| Account key and session token | To prove a returning player is you. The server only ever receives a one-way hash of the key. |
| Owned and enabled cosmetics | To show the right animations. The authoritative list is on our server. |
On Steam, saves can be synced by Steam Cloud; on Android, they can be included in the platform's backup. Those services handle that data under their own policies.
3.2 On our game server
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| The network (IP) address of your connection | To limit how much one connection can use the server and to trace abuse. It is recorded in the server log when an account is created. |
| Account identifier and a salted hash of your account key | To give you an account without a name, email or password |
| Profile and cosmetics | To keep progress and owned cosmetics safe from tampering |
| Session records (stored as hashes) | To keep you signed in and let a session be revoked |
| Match records: the moves played, the match settings and times | To enforce the rules, resume a match after an interruption and settle disputes |
| Purchase records: store, product, transaction identifier and time | To check a purchase with Google, Apple or Steam, grant the cosmetic and restore purchases. We never receive your card or payment details. |
| Matchmaking entries: network address, account identifier and your chosen Lord and Path | To pair you with an opponent. Kept in memory only. |
3.3 Advertising (Android and iOS only)
Ads are shown by Google AdMob, a service of Google. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (the Android advertising ID or Apple's IDFA), your IP address, device and app information, and ad interaction data. It uses this to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, to personalize ads.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: the game asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice later in the game's settings.
- iOS: the game asks for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency before the IDFA is used. If you decline, ads are not personalized using the IDFA.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings.
- A "Remove ads" purchase turns ads off.
Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3.4 Crash reports
Builds that have crash reporting turned on send a report to Sentry when the game crashes or hits an error, or when you choose "Send log". A report contains technical details about the error, the game version and your device model and operating system, plus the game's recent log. We configure it not to store your IP address and not to take screenshots. It does not include your account key.
3.5 What is not collected
- No name, email address, phone number, postal address or date of birth
- No password
- No contacts, photos, files, microphone or location
- No payment card details (the stores handle payment)
- No chat or user-generated content
4. How we use data
To run online play and matchmaking, keep progress and purchases, verify purchases with the stores, show ads on mobile, fix crashes, protect the server from abuse, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Who receives data
- Google, Apple and Valve (Steam), when you use their stores, payments, cloud saves or backups
- Google AdMob, for ads on Android and iOS (section 3.3)
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), for crash reports (section 3.4)
- Our hosting and network providers, including Cloudflare, which run and protect the game server on our instructions
- Public authorities, where the law requires it
6. How long we keep it
- Sessions expire after 30 days by default. Matchmaking entries last only while you are queued.
- Account, purchase and match records are kept while your account exists, or until you ask us to delete them. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it.
- Crash reports are kept by Sentry for a limited period.
7. Your choices and rights
- Play without an account. The game works without one, and your progress stays on your device.
- Ads: manage consent in the game's settings, use your device's advertising settings, or buy "Remove ads".
- Delete your data: email [email protected] with your account identifier (shown in the game's account panel). We will delete your account, sessions and the match records linked to it, except where the law requires us to keep purchase records.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your data, and to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us to use them.
8. Children
Chesslords is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Traffic to our server uses HTTPS. Account keys and session tokens are stored only as hashes. Seat credentials in match records are encrypted. No system is perfect: please report security problems to [email protected].
10. Changes
We will publish any change to this policy at this address and update the date above. If a change materially affects what we collect, the game will tell you.
